Arbroath assistant manager Todd Lumsden was pleased to learn that the Gayfield men had drawn local rivals Montrose in the second round of the William Hill Scottish Cup as it has avoided a trip into the unknown.
The Red Lichties, who beat the Gable Endies 3-1 last month, will host George Shields’ side on Saturday October 4.
Lumsden said: “We are at home against a team that we know so that makes it a decent draw.
“With the teams involved at this stage, we could have been facing a lengthy away trip and could have been facing a team that we know nothing about so at least we do not have that to contend with.
“Our fans will also welcome the game as will the people of Montrose.
“There was a decent crowd and atmosphere at the league game and this one may even see a bigger crowd at it.”
East Fife will be at home to Threave Rovers from Dumfriesshire.
