Forfar suffer Derek Young injury blow

Forfar have been hit by a blow after experienced midfielder Derek Young was ruled out for three weeks after picking up a knee injury at training.

The 34-year-old summer recruit from Queen of the South had established himself as a starter for the League One table-toppers.

However, he sat out the 2-1 win at Airdrie on Saturday and is to miss the rest of October as well.

Loons boss Dick Campbell said: “Derek is a very experienced player and he will be missed.

“It seems a bit self-inflicted as it happened in training, however we just need to get on with things.

“James Dale came in and did well against Airdrie. However, he is only 19 and we do not want to ask too much of him.

“But it is a great opportunity for him.”
