Arbroath manager Jim Weir has urged his side not to let go of the second division lifeline they grasped by beating Angus rivals Brechin.
Wednesday night’s derby win moved the second-bottom Lichties within three points of East Fife and five of Stenhousemuir.
Weir is demanding they take advantage of that as they seek to escape involvement in the relegation play-offs.
“Games are running out, and we need to seize this opportunity,” he said.
“We have got ourselves into this sort of situation on a number of occasions over recent weeks only to let ourselves down.
“But survival is in our own hands now as we meet East Fife on the final day of the season, and if we turn in more performances of the type we gave in beating Brechin I don’t see there being a problem.”
On-loan St Johnstone attacker Andy Jackson returns to Perth following Saturday’s home clash with leaders Alloa.
Weir is now racing the clock to sign a replacement as the deadline for loan signings is next Wednesday.
“Saints have injuries and need Andy back,” he said,
“But we have Steve Hislop and Steven Doris carrying knocks and Bryan Scott returning from injury so we are really short of strikers. I’m looking around to see if we can bring someone in.”
