Manager Gordon Chisholm revealed last night, “Rab is getting both knees done. He’s got some wear and tear that needs tidied up. By getting it done now, hopefully he’ll be ready for pre-season.”
The Dark Blues are hopeful of having Gary Harkins fit to face Partick on Saturday but Eric Paton is unlikely to make it.
“Gary still isn’t back training with the rest of the squad yet,” said Chisholm.
“His dead leg is coming on though and I’m hoping he’ll be able to join in on Thursday. However, Eric is struggling.”
The Dark Blues met St Johnstone in a closed-doors game at Dens yesterday.
Chisholm gave Leigh Griffiths a run-out while David Cowan played his first match in six months.
The fixture also saw Maros Klimpl, Kyle Benedictus, Ben Hutchinson, Pat Clarke, Colin Cameron, Darren Young, Bob Malcolm and Craig Forsyth feature.
“The match was arranged for a specific purpose,” said the manager.
“I’ve not seen some of the boys who were involved.
“And with decisions to be made in the summer I needed a look at them.”
