Dunfermline’s Steven McDougall’s name rings a “Bell” with the East End Park stadium announcer.
McDougall cracked in the opener in the Pars’ hard-fought 2-1 victory over Raith on Tuesday night, a win that takes them to within six points of first division leaders Dundee.
But as the home players celebrated McDougall’s goal, the PA man credited the strike to Steven Bell, who was later sent off following a challenge on Gregory Tade.
“It was great to score again and to get three points so I am delighted all round,” said McDougall, who also netted last Saturday against Queen of the South.
“I actually did not hear the stadium announcer give the goal to Steven Bell — I cannot believe he was trying to steal my thunder.
“But as long as it is there in the stats, then I will take it.
“It was a nerve-racking end to the match. When you go down to 10 men, you are always going to be under the cosh but thankfully we held on to secure a victory.
I came here as a midfielder but I am playing up front just now and I am enjoying it.
“I am learning in every game and if I can keep scoring goals, then I will hopefully retain my place in the team.
“We are on a good run, although we went through an inconsistent spell which cost us matches — hopefully we are over it now.”
