Dunfermline striker Steven McDougall is sweating over a suspected broken toe he fears will end his season.
The 23-year-old told Courier Sport he will have to wait on results after picking up the injury against Inverness Caley on Saturday.
“I’m not sure if the toe is broken,” he said. “I’ll have to wait to get the results of a scan on it.”
“It doesn’t look very good it’s swollen up since the game.
“I broke the same toe before against Partick Thistle, when I again kicked the studs of a player.
“If it’s not broken then I will hopefully get another game this season, but if it’s broken then that will be it.”
McDougall said the Pars had been hit by a series of injuries to players this year, but highlighted the team’s inconsistent form as the main reason for not getting promoted to the SPL.
“We have to do better, week in week out, rather than winning every two or three weeks,” he said.
“We’ve got two games left so we want to win them and finish as high as we can. Both Morton and Airdrie still have a lot to play for and we are professional, so they are two important games.”
“We’ll need to keep it going next season and hopefully the winning run will last longer than a couple of games. You have to go on a good run as the league is that tight.”
