Cowdenbeath manager Jimmy Nicholl is looking for his team to rack up another three points at the expense of fellow strugglers this weekend.
Nicholl said prior to Saturday’s game at Dumbarton that he felt his side’s fixtures against the Sons and Alloa, who they face this weekend, could be classed as must wins as they strive to get away from the wrong end of the Championship table.
And after returning east with full points from their game at Dumbarton, Cowden will be determined to make it six from a possible six when they host the second-bottom Wasps on Saturday.
“It’s all about getting away from the bottom three for us at the minute and we know that the rest of the season is about getting points on the board,” Nicholl stressed.
“This is a crucial phase for us and the players are very aware of how important these kind of matches are, especially because you can look at the fixtures and see what’s coming up next.
“We know that we have to knuckle down and work even harder to get away from trouble.”
After this weekend’s home game against Alloa, Cowden face a tough assignment at league leaders Hearts on February 28 before the rearranged home game against Rangers on March 7.
