Raith Rovers manager Grant Murray hopes Ross Callachan can add to his tally this season after the midfielder netted his first senior goal for the club at the weekend.
The 21-year-old’s landmark strike could not have come at a better time for the Kirkcaldy club at the weekend, earning Rovers a valuable point with virtually the last kick of the ball in their 2-2 draw with Falkirk.
Murray reckons that goal has been coming for some time, and praised his playmaker’s contribution of late.
“He’s had quite a few efforts that have been close in the past, and I think down at Dumbarton earlier in the season he was probably the unluckiest man on the pitch not to score that day,” he explained.
“So it has been coming, although it was probably not one he thought he would score – a simple finish like that.
“At the end of the day it’s hit the back of the net and it’s earned us a magnificent point.
“Sometimes you’ve just got to be in the right place at the right time.
“Ross was there against Falkirk, Christian (Nade) was there against Hibs and Rangers, and you’ve got to be there to put it in.”
Rovers host Rangers on Friday evening as they look to maintain their promotion challenge.
