Dundee goalkeeper Rab Douglas’ specialist thinks the big man should be back for pre-season training.
Douglas had surgery on both knees this month and an assessment this week revealed they are healing well.
The former Scotland and Celtic shot-stopper is someone Dens boss Gordon Chisholm wants fit for the start of the new campaign.
“He will be back for pre-season and that is important because he is a top-class goalkeeper,” said Chisholm.
“It is crucial to have all our big players ready and raring to go for the first day.
“Rab has been fantastic for the club since he came back here a couple of years ago.
“He has a great presence in goal and has a wealth of experience so he is someone we are desperate to have back in the team.”
Dundee will have the excruciating experience of watching the Inverness Caley Thistle players being presented with the first division championship trophy tomorrow at the Caledonian Stadium.
They may be even asked to clap them on to the park.
If they do, Chisholm’s players will line up and he hopes the pain of seeing ICT celebrate will inspire them for next season.
“If we have to applaud them on then that is what we will do,” said Chisholm.
“They deserve it they have been the best team overall this season and are champions.
“From our point of view it is going to hurt but all we can do is try to spoil their party.
“They will be in celebration mode but from our own perspective we just want to win the match and end the season strongly.”
