Pars boss Jim McIntyre began his end-of-season clear-out at East End Park by releasing five players.
Like many teams, the Pars have a limited budget and, with that in mind, the Pars boss confirmed he has told Stephen Glass, Scott Muirhead, Ross Campbell, Graham Holmes and Greg Ross they can leave.
Also, keeper Greg Fleming returns to Oldham after a year-long loan deal.
McIntyre said the club have offered new contracts to Graham Bayne, Alex Burke and Greg Paterson.
All three are expected to reply to the offers early next week and McIntyre admitted it was not easy deciding who should go.
“It’s a horrible part of the job, but we wish all the guys well,” he said.
He is keen to retain the services of midfielder Burke.
McIntyre said, “Alex is a clever footballer, the best player here for the first six months of the season.
“He got an injury and his form dipped a bit, but he is probably one of the best passers of the ball. He complements the team well, so it’s good to have different styles.
“However, he’s not signed up yet so it’s a case of just having to wait and see what happens. An offer has been made and we’ll know early next week.”
McIntyre is also keen to bring in a new keeper but refused to name his target.
