Quality, not quantity is the philosophy of Stevie Crawford as the East Fife manager looks to put the finishing touches to his squad.
The Bayview boss appears to have assembled his group of players for the forthcoming campaign, although he has not ruled out adding one final new face before the transfer window closes.
It’s been a hectic summer in Methil with plenty of comings and goings, most notably the departure of talismanic striker Paul McManus to Maltese side Hibernians.
However, Crawford admits that he is happy with his new-look squad and will only make further additions should that player be able to challenge for a first-team place.
He told Courier Sport, “There’s a possibility that we might bring in one more player.
“I said when I came in that I like a squad with balance and I think I have that.”
He added, “It’s a smaller squad than when I took over and anyone that came in wouldn’t be brought in to make up the numbers.
“They would have to be challenging for a place in the team.”
Meanwhile, John Ovenstone is a doubt as the Fifers prepare to square up against local rivals Raith Rovers in the first round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup on Saturday.
The defender took a knock in Saturday’s Alba Challenge Cup victory against Brechin and has not trained this week, although Crawford is confident that he could yet make the game at Stark’s Park.
