St Johnstone midfielder Martin Hardie has left McDiarmid Park to go on loan to Partick Thistle.
Hardie, a former Jags player, has returned to Firhill on a month’s deal, having recovered from a career-threatening knee injury.
In the summer, Saints boss Derek McInnes handed him a deal through to Christmas in a bid to have him play his way into a longer term contract, and now the gaffer is backing him to be a hit with the struggling first division side.
McInnes said, “Martin has played two lots of 90 minutes but he needs competitive matches which he can’t get here at the moment.
“Thistle are the ideal club for him because he was very popular with the fans there before. They have a real affection for Martin. I am sure he will enjoy his time with Thistle and it will prove mutually beneficial.
“Martin has done so well to battle back and we have had to be fair to him. He will get a chance to play in real games over the next few weeks.”
