Pars boss Jim McIntyre has revealed two of his players are set to go under the knife.
Goalkeeper Greg Paterson, who broke his leg against Dundee in March, and Jack Ross, who only joined the Pars last month, are the pair requiring surgery.
“Jack will go in for an operation on his knee on Wednesday,” McIntyre said on Tuesday night. “He was injured four weeks ago in training. He did not think it was too bad at first and tried to manage it. He played a couple of games but he just was not feeling right.
“We got it assessed and it turns out there are a couple of tears in his cartilage so he needs to get them sorted.
“Greg is also set to have an op. It is just a small procedure to help him heal better.”
Meanwhile, McIntyre believes that despite Raith Rovers, Dunfermline and Falkirk opening up a gap on the rest of the first division, it is still too early to discount others as title contenders.
“I still think any one of six teams could win this league,” he said. “There is a points gap at the moment but you should never forget how difficult the matches are in this division.
“Three or four good results by one of the teams in the middle of the table, combined with a couple of bad ones for the sides leading, could see a big turnaround.
“It is way too early to be calling it a three-horse race. Look how far Dundee were ahead last season and yet they were caught by Inverness.”
