A traumatic year for fans of Dundee FC is ending with a positive message.
With administrator Bryan Jackson warning there are still several hurdles to overcome before they can exit administration, a joint statement from the Dundee Football Club Supporters’ Society and Dark Blue Business Trust the two bodies providing funds to Jackson to help achieve his goal of a Creditors’ Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) rounded off 2010 on an upbeat note.
In the aftermath of a meeting of representatives from the organisations who are working in tandem to save their club, a spokesman for both parties said, “It was a very worthwhile get-together. There have been several exchanges over the last week or so but (that) was the first time in a while we have met face-to-face.
“I have to say that if we can come through the CVA and out of administration we are confident we will emerge with a real sense of community spirit and build the type of club our committed supporters deserve.
“There was much common ground identified, ideas from each group were explored and I think those involved are the better for it. We parted on good terms and many of the creases that existed pre-meeting have been ironed out and some perceived obstacles to progress removed.
“There is still work for both groups and Bryan Jackson to do to get us out of administration but if fans continue to be patient and show the commitment they have for a little longer then 2011 should be a better year for us all.”
Meanwhile, the Dark Blues have been mopping up after burst pipes caused extensive damage inside Dens. There was water in the dressing room areas, treatment room and kit room. The damage also affected the electricity supply and telephone lines.
But the club insist there is no threat to Sunday’s home fixture against Ross County.
“We have had burst pipes and it has caused some damage to the dressing-room area,” said manager Barry Smith. “It means we have not been able to use them for the last couple of days but the club have got people in fixing the problem.
“Everything will be sorted in time for Sunday’s game, so that won’t be affected.”
