Raith Rovers boss John McGlynn has revealed the club is holding talks with Gary Wales about extending his short-term contract.
The striker, who had a successful previous spell at Stark’s Park, rejoined the club in November but after impressing in reserve games, has been dogged by injury.
McGlynn is hopeful of reaching agreement with the player to keep him at the club and give him the chance of securing a long-term deal.
He said, “Gary was unfortunate in that he picked up a thigh injury.
“He then aggravated his calf.
“So, right now, we are in negotiations to extend his deal to give him further opportunities to impress.”
Meanwhile, Raith central defender Craig Wedderburn has been farmed out on loan to Arbroath until the end of the season.
McGlynn, whose side are pushing hard for the first division title, said, “Craig has been on the fringe of things and has been on the bench a few times.
“Hopefully going on loan will stand him in good stead and give him the opportunity of first-team football. That is certainly the idea.”
