Montrose boss Steven Tweed has stepped down from his role after watching his side slump to a 2-1 defeat at Annan Athletic.
The player-manager said increased work commitments in his day-to-day role with the Royal Bank of Scotland had led to his decision.
Former Dundee assistant Ray Farningham is now set to take the reins in the meantime as the Gable Endies look to climb the third division table.
The players were told after the match.
Tweed has not yet confirmed whether he will be calling time on his playing career.
He said, “My two years have been a bit of a rollercoaster, but I am leaving the club in a stronger position off the field with a substantially reduced debt.
“I’ve tried to combine everything but it has simply not been possible. Now seems the best time to do it as it gives the club plenty of time.”
Chairman Derek Sim said, “Steven leaves Montrose Football Club with the very best wishes of the board.”
