It will be a hostile homecoming for Dundee playmaker Gary Harkins in Greenock on Saturday but he won’t care as long as he leaves a winner.
Harkins hails from the Clydeside town and every time he plays against Morton he gets stick from the home supporters.
He will happily accept the abuse if the Dark Blues can collect three points that will go a long way to avoiding the first division’s relegation play-off spot.
Dundee sit four points clear of both Ross County, who have a game in hand, and Cowdenbeath in the survival battle. With games running out fast, victory over Ton would be a massive boost.
“I am expecting my usual warm welcome because it is something I am used to by now,” said Harkins.
“I tend to get it in the neck every time I go to Cappielow, because Greenock is the kind of town where everyone knows everyone else and that is where I was born and brought up. But I will take that in my stride.
“It is part and parcel of football and you don’t bother about it as long as you get the three points and do your job on the day.
“It is never an easy place to go to because it is a tight park and Morton are a decent side so we don’t need any warning about what to expect.
“All we are thinking of is staying up and a positive result on Saturday would help immensely.”
