Barry Smith urging Dundee FC to remember the good times

Barry Smith has told his Dundee players to realise they have not become bad players overnight.
As he reflected on a home defeat to Ross County that sent the Dark Blues crashing to the bottom of the First Division, Smith conceded some of his men need to rediscover their self-belief.
”When you are on a run like we are on some players maybe do lose confidence,” said Smith. ”My job is to instil that confidence back in them because they don’t become bad players or a bad team overnight.
”For me, this is a good team and I still believe things will turn around. I have no doubt about that.
”What we need to keep playing the way we should be. We need to keep passing the ball because what happens when players lose confidence is they end up kicking the ball forward.
”We were doing things like rushing to take a quick free-kick when we were in front. Experience should tell you that you don’t need to do that.
”So we were trying to force things and that must change. We need to stop trying to overdo a pass when there are two or three easier ones available. That is just making the wrong decision at the wrong time.”
