Dundee should learn the extent of on-loan Hearts player Calum Elliot’s knee injury in the next couple of days.
The striker was signed last week but lasted just 30 seconds on his debut for the Dark Blues against Raith on Saturday.
Elliot, who has been working his way back to full fitness following knee surgery in March, crumpled to the turf after a challenge by Rovers left-back Willie Dyer and had to be stretchered off.
The 24-year-old has now gone back to Hearts and it is thought he will be given a scan before the Tynecastle medical team make a full diagnosis.
Dundee boss Barry Smith said: ”Calum is away back to Hearts so their medical staff can have a look at him. He is probably going to have a scan and things will become clearer after that.
”It was a real shame for him because he has worked so hard to get back after his operation and we knew how desperate he was to play again. But hopefully it’s not serious and he’ll be back before long.”
Dundee finally broke this season’s home hoodoo on Saturday thanks to Ryan Conroy’s late winner and Smith admitted he is delighted his side have finally broken their Dens Park duck.
Dundee, who face Morton on Saturday, have injury concerns over Rhys Weston, who has a knee problem, as well as Craig McKeown, Steven Milne and Graham Bayne, who are all nursing knocks.
Jake Hyde, who replaced the stricken Elliot on Saturday, was himself later substituted.
However Smith said the striker only came off as he was suffering cramp after being out for a few weeks with a knee injury and he should be fine for Saturday.
