New dad Paul Dixon wants to bag a goal for Dundee United as soon as possible in order to do the ”baby celebration” for real.
The Tannadice left-back scored a cracker against Dunfermline last month and chose to copy the cradle-rocking action made famous by Brazilian ace Bebeto in the 1994 World Cup.
However, Dixon later revealed the celebration was only done in a bid to hurry the birth along.
As things turned out, he and partner Stefany had to wait almost another week before son Lucas arrived.
The 24-year-old is enjoying the early days of fatherhood and wants to cap it all off with a goal and a win over Hearts on Saturday.
”I did the celebration against Dunfermline to hurry the baby up,” recalled Dixon. ”It worked and it didn’t work because my sister’s child was actually born afterwards but we had to wait a while longer for Lucas to come.
”Fatherhood is great. There have been a few sleepless nights but I am enjoying every minute of it and I would love to score another goal against Hearts so I can do the celebration properly this time.
”It is going to be tough but we beat them at the start of the season and are confident of doing it again.
”Their off-field problems won’t have any impact on the game because as players when you go out onto the park you forget about all these things.
”They are looking to climb the table and so are we so it should be a close game.”
United have, of course, signed Robbie Neilson and Dixon believes the experienced former Hearts defender will be a valuable addition to the squad.
”Robbie will be a great signing for the club because he brings a lot of experience and has played at a very good level in England,” he said. ”The manager wanted someone to come in to boost the numbers at the back because we have had a few injury problems.
”He was a cracking player for Hearts over the years and then got a move to a big club like Leicester, so he has a wealth of experience. He has fitted in very well with the lads already.”
