Dundee boss doesn’t want Riley nicking all the attention

Dundee boss Barry Smith has praised Nicky Riley’s five-star performance against Falkirk at the weekend but insists the Dark Blues are anything but a one-man band.

The former Celtic winger ran the Bairns ragged to help Dundee seal a convincing 4-2 victory which has moved them up the First Division table into third place.

But Smith insists Riley’s team-mates are deserve a big pat on the back for their display against Steven Pressley’s side.

He said: ”Nicky has been doing well all season but I am not going to focus on one player because I think the whole team performance was really good.

”One player doesn’t win you the game. The defenders and the rest of the midfield did well and the strikers scored goals. But, yes, Nicky has shown tremendous consistency for us this season so obviously we hope he keeps that going.”

The win over Falkirk was Dundee’s fourth victory on the bounce, a run which has put them back in the promotion mix. Now Smith is determined his players will continue in a similar vein at Hamilton this weekend.

Smith added: ”We just want to keep things going. The performances at home this season with the exception of one game have merited more than what we’ve got until Saturday’s win so I knew all along it would come.”

Striker Graham Bayne has finally shaken off an ankle injury and is set to take part in a bounce game against Aberdeen today.
