Jim Jefferies has been appointed the new Dunfermline manager.
The experienced former Hearts, Kilmarnock and Bradford City boss has agreed a deal through to the end of the season, and is in negotiations about a further year after that.
He got straight to work on Tuesday afternoon by taking in a Pars closed-doors game against Celtic.
Tynecastle legend Gilles Rousset has insisted Jefferies can save Dunfermline from the drop.
The French keeper, who won the Scottish Cup under the 61-year-old in 1998, claims he is the perfect man for the job as the Pars fight to close the four-point gap behind SPL relegation rivals Hibs.
Rousset, who was brought to Scottish football by Jefferies, revealed his old boss is itching to get back into the game following his Hearts sacking in the summer.
Rousset, now a coach with Lyon, said: ”Jim is a tremendous leader and motivator. I don’t know what kind of players he will get at Dunfermline but they have not won a single home game all season which is why they are bottom of the table.
”What I do know is that he will be able to get 100% out of the players’ potential. He will do that very quickly which he needs to do because Jim is that type of person. He is very positive and brings so much belief to a dressing room.
“That is very important when you are in a battle to escape relegation which Dunfermline are facing at the moment. There is no question in my mind that Jim will be a big signing for Dunfermline. He is the man who can save them, definitely.
”They are four points behind Hibs but that is nothing because there are still a lot of points to be played for.”
