Dundee United, St Johnstone and Dundee will each be quids in to the tune of £136,000 thanks to Celtic’s Champions League exploits.
The Hoops’ qualification for the group stages will see Scotland’s UEFA solidarity funding the amount of money that is shared equally by the other 11 SPL clubs not competing in the Champions League increase from a pot of £500,000 to £1,500,000.
Also, the league’s European co-efficient ranking based on a points system calculated against the results of teams from each country will also benefit.
Celtic and the SPL will be awarded four bonus points for participation in the group stages, with additional points being awarded for a group stage win or draw.
But it is the financial windfall that will be most welcome in the boardrooms, particularly with no Rangers in the top flight.
SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster said: ”Our congratulations go to all at Celtic FC on once again reaching the group stages of the UEFA Champions League. Their success is a welcome boost for the entire game in Scotland both financially and reputationally.
”Ahead of the start of Scotland’s World Cup qualifying campaign next week (this) is a timely reminder that Scottish football still has a rightful place at European football’s top table.”
