Dundee United boss Peter Houston says Craig Conway’s call up had nothing to do with him

Dundee United manager Peter Houston has said he wasn’t behind the Tannadice winger Craig Conway’s call up to the Scotland squad.
Conway was a late draft into the international squad for the Carling Nations Cup clash against Northern Ireland in Dublin on Wednesday night.
The United star in sparkling form for his club since recovering from long-term injury has the chance to add to a cap won against Japan.
Houston, who doubles up as Craig Levein’s assistant at national level, stressed, “I had nothing to do with it.
“Craig’s form last season was great and he almost got a move down south before he got injured. He has pace and power and is a good crosser of the ball.
“It was without my influence at all. He has deserved it and is fit and ready for it.”
There was also good news for United youngster Dale Hilson who is currently on loan to Forfar who has been called into the Scotland under-21 squad for their training get-together this week.
