Cadamarteri could be final attacking option

The door to Hampden may not have shut on Dundee United frontman Danny Cadamarteri after all.

It was feared the exuberant Englishman would miss the Active Nation Scottish Cup final against Ross County after dislocating his shoulder during the weekend game against Rangers.

Already without star striker Francisco Sandaza because of a hamstring injury, United are understandably keen to have Cadamarteri available as an attacking option.

The player himself reckons he will be fit for the big one but United will continue to monitor his progress between now and the County clash a week on Saturday.

“Danny is under the watchful eye of the physio and the club doctor,” said Tannadice first team coach Paul Hegarty.

“His shoulder has been popped back in so it is just case of waiting and seeing how he reacts.

“He is doubtful for this week’s games but he will be desperate to get back in time for the cup final. It is still early days as far as the final is concerned.

“He is a very enthusiastic guy. He is full of energy so he will be doing all he can to get there.”

There was more good news regarding left-back Paul Dixon, who is making rapid progress in his recovery from a broken foot and could also be involved against Ross County.

The Scotland squad man has been spending hours in a hyperbaric chamber in a bid to overcome his injury and recently resumed light training with the club’s medical staff.

Hegarty said the Tangerines will give him every chance to prove his fitness. “Paul is training with the physio at the moment,” he said.

“He has been out for three weeks now but if you ask him he is positive about being back in time.

“The door is open for him. He is determined to get fit for it and everyone is wishing him well.”
