John McGlynn won’t let Dundee FC’s news upset Raith Rovers’ preparations

Raith Rovers boss John McGlynn will not let the news Dundee have taken a major step closer to securing their long-term future affect his side’s preparations for this weekend’s match between the two teams.

Whatever the outcome of Tuesday’s creditors’ meeting at Dens Park was going to be, McGlynn knew that come the weekend he would be facing a fired-up and confident opposition.

He said, “I have always expected them to emerge from administration. I’m not looking at what’s happening off the field. I’m just concentrating on the team they’ll put out against us and on their current form, which has been excellent.

“As I said when they first went into administration, they’ve still got a squad which would be one of the favourites to win the league, and that hasn’t changed their form has proved that.

“They’re off the bottom and I’d expect them to end up mid-table. If they hadn’t had 25 points deducted this would be a top-of-the-table clash, with us both on the same points. That’s how we’ll be treating it.”

As McGlynn noted, Dundee have been “fighting for a cause” over the last few months, but he insisted “so are we.”

He stated, “We’re top of the league and we want to stay there. We’ve got Dundee twice in 10 days and there’s another one after that. So we know how important our matches against Dundee will be.

“But Falkirk and Dunfermline have to play each other three times, so that probably cancels out us having to play Dundee so often.”
