Ayr United v East Fife: Robertson keeping it consistent

East Fife manager John Robertson has confirmed he is likely to stick with the same squad that drew with Brechin on Saturday when they visit Ayr United tonight.

The Fifers will be determined to build on their improved performance when they travel to Somerset Park in the second division’s only game, while putting some more distance between themselves and bottom-placed Stenhousemuir will also be the order of the day.

The Methil men sit three points ahead of Stenny in the table and will hope to increase that gap when they play what is effectively their game in hand.

However, Ayr away from home is always a tough proposition indeed, United won the reverse fixture 3-2 at New Bayview back in September.

Robbo was pleased with his side’s showing on the back of their 3-1 home defeat to Dumbarton in their last midweek outing and is looking for more of the same.

“We looked committed and had the right attitude,” Robertson said.

Robert Sloan and Stevie Campbell will be sidelined through injury, as will defender Marc McCulloch.

On-loan Dunfermline winger Paul Willis could make his Ayr debut as the Honest Men are without the long-term injured pair of Dean Keenan and Bobby Donnelly.

Midfielder Ryan McCann is struggling to make it because of a back injury and striker Andy Rodgers a doubt because of a hamstring problem.
