Dundee FC hot-shot Sean Higgins earns manager’s praise

Dundee boss Barry Smith has praised unsung hero Sean Higgins for helping to ensure that Leigh Griffiths’ departure to Wolves has not been the body blow many fans feared.
Hot-shot Higgins was on target again in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Morton at Dens, which took the striker’s tally to four in three games. And Smith admitted he is delighted the player is finally receiving the proper recognition.
“I am very pleased for Sean because I don’t think he always gets the credit he deserves,” he said. “With the amount of work he puts in, he has not always in the past got the number of goals his sheer effort has merited. But the fact he is still working his socks off and now getting the goals is something which has delighted me.
“I am asking him to do something a wee bit different by playing as the furthest man in the team and he’s revelling in it so long may it continue.”
Meanwhile, Dundee defender Rhys Weston missed Monday training with a touch of tendinitis but should be fit for Saturday’s trip to Partick Thistle where the Dark Blues will look to extend their unbeaten run to 18 games.
