Dundee FC manager Barry Smith has bid a fond farewell to Neil McCann and revealed how the veteran winger has left a lasting legacy at Dens Park.
McCann featured for the last time as a trialist for the Dark Blues as they came from behind to beat Queen of the South 2-1 on Saturday to set a club record of 20 games unbeaten.
It may have only been a three-game stint for the ex-Scotland, Rangers and Hearts star (36) but it was eventful, with the highlight the last-gasp winner against league leaders Raith Rovers.
He will return to his job as a TV pundit, but Smith insists he has made his mark on the club.
Smith said, “Not only has Neil played his part in terms of the results, but I would like to think he has had a big influence on those around him with the way he goes about his business.
“You just have to look at the way he takes care of himself and conducts himself to see why he has played at the highest level.”
He added, “It is just unfortunate that we can’t do anything in terms of signing him but I can’t thank him enough for what he has done.”
Dundee may have created club history but that is not occupying Smith’s mind. Instead, he is focused on Saturday’s visit to Falkirk.
“We still have a lot of hard games coming up so we are not looking too far ahead.”
Meanwhile, striker Sean Higgins should be fit despite picking up a knock on Saturday.
“Sean is still feeling the knock he took a bit, but he ought to be okay for this weekend,” Smith added.
