Raith Rovers boss John McGlynn is hoping that Greenock Morton can prove to be party poopers at the weekend when they take on table-topping Dunfermline.
McGlynn’s men are still licking their wounds after suffering a shattering 2-1 reversal at East End Park at the weekend, a result which put the Pars firmly in the first division championship driving seat.
A win for Dunfermline in Greenock would secure the title and promotion to the SPL so McGlynn is desperately hoping that Allan Moore’s side will produce a big performance to upset the champions-elect and throw Raith a lifeline.
“It is difficult to pinpoint why we did not perform to the level we are capable of on Saturday,” he said. “Obviously, Dunfermline were determined to beat us but we probably did not deal with the situation well.
“It will probably take another couple of days to get over the disappointment, which is natural. However, I am certain they will have picked themselves up for our game against Queen of the South on Saturday.
“The destination of the title is out of our hands now but we just have to try to win our last two games and hope Dunfermline slip up.
“They go to Morton on Saturday and, in a normal situation, no football side likes another to be partying at their ground. I am sure Morton will give it their best shot and they could make a big difference.
“However, we also have to make sure that we produce a big response to losing and do the business.”
Midfielder Stephen Simmons could be doubtful for that game after picking up a foot knock against Dunfermline. He tried to train on Monday but had to cut short his session after the injury flared up again.
Meanwhile, Rovers striker Gregory Tade, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is the subject of persistent transfer rumours.
Aberdeen are the latest side linked with the Frenchman. However, McGlynn insisted, “There has been no contact at all from Aberdeen with regard to Gregory.”
