Dundee United started April with a famous win against one half of the Old Firm in Glasgow now they’re looking to repeat the trick in May against the other.
Paul Dixon, who will return from suspension for the trip to face Celtic on Sunday, pointed out that now they’ve got the taste for success in the west, they’re hungry for more.
“We’ll be trying to do to Celtic what we did to Rangers and get another win away from home,” he said. “We know we can do it now, because of what we did at Ibrox a few weeks ago.
“We also got a last-minute equaliser at Celtic Park earlier in the season, so hopefully we can go one step further and win a match there.”
The Parkhead ground holds good memories for the Tannadice left-back.
“I scored a goal at Celtic Park. It was my first ever for United. I can remember it well. Artur Boruc gave me a lot of the goal to hit so I thought ‘thanks very much’ and managed to stick it in.
“I’ve had a few assists there as well, so fingers crossed I can keep that run going.
“This is the sort of game you love to play in. There will no doubt be a full house and their fans will be looking to spur their team on to win the championship. It will be good to be a part of an occasion like that.
“All the pressure is on them because they’re still trying to catch Rangers, even though they’ve got a game in hand.”
As for whether it will be Rangers or Celtic who take the title, Dixon believes it’s still a 50/50 call.
“It will be about who handles the pressure best. After they drew the Old Firm game it now looks like it will probably go down to the very last game before the title is decided.
“If either had won it you would have said they’d go on to win the league.”
Meanwhile, reports have suggested United midfield duo Morgaro Gomis and Prince Buaben have both been offered contracts by Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Seagulls will be playing in the English Championship next season after winning promotion from League One and are on the lookout for new talent.
Gomis and Buaben are both out of contract at the end of the season and United boss Peter Houston has accepted that they will be moving on.
