Smith, who was released by the Perth men at the end of last season, joined St Mirren on a one-year contract with the option of a further year. The 28-year-old became a Buddie just hours after it was announced that first-choice keeper Paul Gallacher was returning to Dunfermline. “I am just glad to be sorted and I hope to play my part in a good campaign with St Mirren,” said Smith. “It is hard in football just now due to the financial climate there are more players out there than there are squad places available. “It is nice that the manager Danny Lennon wants me here at St Mirren and this is a new challenge for me which I am looking forward to.”
