Arbroath boss Paul Sheerin has revealed he feared his playing days were over as he waited for a consultant’s verdict on Tuesday.
The Gayfield player/manager picked up the knee injury after an innocuous challenge during the derby against Brechin two weeks ago.
He initially suspected severe ligament damage so was relieved to be told it is a lesser cartilage injury, although he will still have to undergo the first operation of his career in the next week.
Sheerin said: ”I will now be confined to the touchlines for a while but I have always said that we have a squad of 19 players and I have no qualms about giving any of them a start.”
