Cowdenbeath are due to take on Dunfermline in a Fife Cup semi-final this afternoon, with the tie doubling up as a benefit match.
Both teams are out of the Scottish Cup so pencilled their domestic cup clash in for this weekend at Central Park, although the clubs are also keen to support Cowdenbeath defender Dean Brett in the wake of his partner Gemma Porteous’ death.
The match proceeds from today’s game will therefore be split between The Mia Brett Fund, set up in aid of the couple’s daughter Mia, and the Fife Football Association.
As a Fife Cup game, it will be played on an Under 20 basis although five over age players are allowed on both sides.
Entry is £5 for adults and £3 for Under 16s and OAPs, and both clubs hope football fans whose teams may not be in action on Saturday will go along to boost numbers.
