East Fife are keen on former Hibs, Brechin City and Dumbarton defender Scott Smith, who played for them as a trialist in their 3-0 friendly win over Gala.

The 22-year-old was Ian Murray’s second signing after he took over at the Bet Butler Stadium in 2012, and Smith, who was on loan at Brechin as well as East Fife earlier in his career, played more than 25 games for the Championship side.

He was released at the end of the season and is now looking to secure a second stint at Bayview.
