Dunfermline striker Michael Moffat hopes people will be talking about football after their trip to Peterhead rather than the ugly scenes that marred their last encounter.
The Pars ran out comfortable 3-0 winners when the teams met at East End Park in September but the scoreline did not tell the whole story as their visitors from the north ended the fixture with just eight men.
The Blue Toon’s James Redman set the tone after just 16 minutes when he was shown a red card for scything down Josh Falkingham, with both Steven Noble and Jordon Brown also given their marching orders following a mass brawl shortly before the break.
What happened last time out is likely to add a little extra spice to today’s fixture at Balmoor, but Moffat is keen to focus on the footballing side of things.
“It is a tough place to go at the best of times so I am sure that they will be up for the game,” he said.
“Hopefully it will not get out of hand like the last time. I would like to think that it wouldn’t get that way. We just need to keep our heads, our composure and get back to winning ways in the league.
“Three points are a must. I played there three years ago and won 2-1 so it was good.
“The boys were saying that it is three-and-a-half hours from Dunfermline. It will be a long day but we knew that they would be in the league and you just need to get on with it.
“We can’t use that as an excuse, we just need to get on with it and hopefully get a win.”
The Pars remain two points behind league leaders Forfar going into the weekend and know that a victory could see them reclaim top spot if Dick Campbell’s Loons slip up at Morton.
