Dunfermline boss John Potter wants his side to be more ruthless in front of goal as they aim to get their title challenge back on track at Brechin this afternoon.
The new Pars manager saw his team play some decent stuff in his first game in charge against Stranraer last week but was ultimately left disappointed as Frank McKeown’s goal was enough to see Stephen Aitken’s men take all three points from East End Park.
It was the Pars’ third straight defeat in all competitions and Potter knows full well that a fourth would see City leapfrog his side in the table and push them out of the play-off spots.
“I thought we started the second half very well but you have to put the ball in the net when you are on top,” Potter stressed.
“It has been the same old story for us quite a lot this year but I am happy with the intensity they played and how quick we got it and got forward.UPDATE: Match has been postponed because of a frozen pitch“We just need that bit more quality in front of goal.
“The goal we lost was really disappointing from our point of view because we have had the same opportunities three or four times every game and don’t put it in the net.
“So we need to be a wee bit more clinical and on our toes in the box at both ends – defensively and on the front foot.
“We can go on a run like Stranraer have but we need to get started, and started quick.
“We have to start winning games and winning them soon.”
The Pars were boosted last week by the long-awaited return of Ryan Wallace as a substitute, and the forward is likely to be pushing for a starting slot today after getting a full week’s training under his belt.
