Brechin City boss Ray McKinnon is weighing up whether or not to pitch on loan Dundee striker Craig Wighton straight in against Dunfermline.
The 17-year-old product of the Dens youth set-up has been farmed out to Glebe Park to gain valuable experience at League One level and will no doubt be eager to start against the Pars this afternoon.
That decision is up to McKinnon, of course, although handing the highly-rated teenager a starting slot is something the Brechin manager has not ruled out.
A win for City today would see them jump above Dunfermline in the table and up into the promotion play-off spots for the first time since October, and McKinnon knows that could be psychologically significant.
“We have been stealth like in our approach,” he explained.UPDATE:Match has been postponedbecause of a frozen pitch“Not many people will realise what a good run we have been on as we have kept quiet about it and also we have drawn five of those games as opposed to going on a winning run.
“We are now sitting on the shoulder of the teams in the play-off places and are handily placed to pounce.
“If we could pick up the three points in this game to move above a big club like Dunfermline they we will get noticed.
“We will no longer be able to slip under the radar as a result as our profile will have been raised.”
McKinnon, who is missing only long-term absentee Callum Tapping, has had the Pars scouted and is expecting a tough encounter despite their loss last week.
“They failed to take a number of chances so we have to be ready for a bit of a storm as I am sure that John Potter will be out to get his first win in charge,” he concluded.
