Raith Rovers hoping to keep hold of Rangers winger

Raith Rovers are in talks to prolong the stay of young winger Barrie McKay at Stark’s Park beyond the end of his current loan deal.
The 19-year-old Rangers starlet has made 13 appearances since making the switch from Rangers in September, although the existing agreement between the clubs would see him go back to the Govan outfit next week.
McKay said earlier this month he would be happy to return to Ibrox despite the ongoing problems at the Glasgow club, although it is understood he would be similarly content to stay at Raith if a deal could be done to keep him in Kirkcaldy.
“It’s obviously up to the clubs if Rangers want me back there it’s not really up to me,” McKay commented.
“All I can do is play my best wherever I am.”
The forward was one of the standout performers on Saturday as Rovers recorded their sixth win of the league season, with Ryan Conroy’s second-half goal enough to see off Falkirk.
The result moved Rovers back to within eight points of the promotion play-offs, although it was just their second win in 12 league fixtures.
