Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes insists he is at the club for the long haul.
The Dons boss has been linked with jobs at two of his former clubs Rangers and West Brom over the last few weeks.
McInnes’ feat of taking the Dons to the top of the Scottish Premiership in 2015 will have enhanced his growing reputation further but the Aberdeen manager is adamant he has unfinished business at Pittodrie.
He said: “Nothing deviates from what I’m doing here and I’m really enjoying my time here.
“My job, as it is with the players, is on continuing the good work. Most managers see jobs as long term but it doesn’t always work out that way.
“This is a great place to work and we’ve created an environment where everyone enjoys working which is why getting the players here to sign new contracts has been easy.
“It’s the same for Tony Docherty and I as we really enjoy working here.”
Celtic’s win at Kilmarnock on Monday has reduced Aberdeen’s lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to a point.
Dons supporters are enjoying the sight of their side leading the pack in 2015 and, while McInnes is refusing to discuss the possibility of a title challenge at Pittodrie, he is confident his squad can handle the pressure of being the pacesetters.
He said: “I believe I have a team which can always be competitive and is capable of winning games.
“When you sign for Aberdeen, whether it as a player or a manager, you should expect pressure. It’s part of the deal but it also part of the attraction.
“There is always an expectation on us and everyone is looking for clubs to present a challenge. The fact ourselves, Dundee United and Inverness are up there can only be good and there is no harm in our supporters getting excited.
“They have to recognise we have a group of players totally committed to getting results and we try to win every game.
“Whether we can sustain that remains to be seen but that’s why we only focus on one game at a time.”
