Arbroath manager Allan Moore reckons his newest additions have bolstered his side’s promotion push at the right time.
Moore has managed to secure loan deals for Falkirk defender Ryan McGeever and St Johnstone striker Dylan Easton in the last few weeks and he reckons both signings will have big parts to play in the coming weeks as the Lichties aim to stay top of League Two.
“I think the boy McGeever will add a bit more steel to our defence, and being six foot two hopefully he’ll get a few at the other end as well,” he commented.
“He is an out-and-out centre half and will add a bit of steel, he’s good in the air, talks well, and in this division I think that’s what you need.
“We also managed to get Dylan from St Johnstone in, who’s superb.
“If we can get him on the ball he’ll tear teams apart in this division.
“So we’re hoping we can keep both of those they are only on monthly deals at the moment but we’re hoping they’ll sign again.
“I think if we can keep the rest of the boys fit, I’ve always said it: from middle to front, we’re the best team in the league goals-wise.
“I think we just need to tighten up a wee bit at the back and maybe tighten up our play a bit.
“We can be quite bold and have a go at teams, so we can leave ourselves a wee bit vulnerable to the counter attack.
“In fairness, we’ve not played with two out and out centre halves all season, so to be sitting top of the league is great.”
Moore, who picked up the League Two Manager of the Month award on Monday, has been given the green light by the board at Gayfield to strengthen his squad, although the Lichties manager maintains he will not be rushed into panic buying for the sake of it.
A loan move for Hamilton defender Craig Watson was scrapped at the 11th hour last week when Accies manager Alex Neil left for Norwich, and Moore is still searching.
But he continued: “It’s all right saying: “Look, there’s some money, go and get a player.”
“It’s about getting the right player in that’s going to be better than what you’ve got, and it’s about enticing players to Arbroath.
“As I’ve said before, it’s not easy, but we’ve got a wee bit extra because we can tell players they’ve got a chance of getting a medal at the end of the season.”
