Dundee boss Gordon Chisholm has been tight-lipped over the chances of Queen of the South’s Bob Harris moving to Dens Park.
The promising left-back (22) was the subject of a transfer bid at the weekend from Dundee, prompting an angry response from Queens boss Kenny Brannigan.
The offer thought to be £30,000 plus one of four Dundee players was rejected, with Brannigan stating, “He will not be leaving here for two bob and a doughnut.”
Now, Chisholm is keen that any further business is conducted away the public gaze, although he did confirm that he would not be pursuing his interest in another player, Johnny Flynn.
The Dundee boss said, “I do not want to discuss Bob Harris.
“We like to be professional about things and if there is a deal done, then we will be the first to let the supporters know.”
He added, “However, Johnny Flynn is away back down to Blackburn.
“I spoke to his agent and the demands were a bit more than we could manage.”
Chisholm said, “I think we are getting near to the limit of the squad but there is certainly room for one or possibly two more.
“Whether that will happen before next Saturday, I could not say.”Signings boost squadThe squad was bolstered at the weekend by the loan signing from St Johnstone of Jamie Adams and the acquisition of Rhys Weston on a one-year deal.
Both featured in Saturday’s Co-operative Insurance Cup win over Montrose, and Chisholm revealed that they have relieved some of the pressure to get centre-half Dominic Shimmin fit again.
The summer signing from Morton has had a frustrating start to his Dens career after picking up an Achilles injury before pre-season training had even started.
Now, though, he is edging closer to making his debut.
Chisholm said, “Dominic is stepping things up in training.
“It has been a slow process but we just have to make sure we do not overload him.”
He added, “There is no use pushing him now that we have big Adams and Weston in.
“We are a wee bit more comfortable at the back, whereas before we were a little short, so we will just take our time with him.”
Meanwhile, the manager is hoping to have Mickael Antoine-Curier back on Wednesday.
The striker was granted compassionate leave last week to fly to his ill father’s bedside in Paris.
