Barry Smith makes Rhys Weston his new Dundee FC captain

Dundee boss Barry Smith has confirmed that Rhys Weston will be the new club captain this season.

Midfielder Stephen O’Donnell was skipper in the Dark Blues’ opening friendlies while Weston was on the sidelines with a foot injury.

But the big Welsh defender has recovered and wore the captain’s armband at the weekend in the East Fife tournament.

“It is a tremendous honour,” said Weston. “To be honest, it could have been any one of us.

“I intend to go about my business as a player in the same way as always-I only play one way.”
