Arbroath have been installed as odds-on favourites to take the League Two title ahead of their trip to Annan Athletic.
But assistant boss Todd Lumsden insists that no-one at Gayfield will be taking their foot off the gas any time soon as they strive to bounce back to Scottish football’s third tier at the first time of asking.
The Lichties have the chance to stretch eight points clear of the pack if they can take all three points from their final game of the first quarter at Galabank, so boss Allan Moore will be looking for more of the same from his in-form team following their convincing 4-0 win over East Stirling at the weekend.
“Of course we were delighted with the win at the weekend but there were patches in the game that were disappointing,” Lumsden commented.
“We were slack and the manager was quite right to bring it up afterwards as we have set high standards and cannot allow them to drop.
“We have done well so far this season and if we were to end the first quarter with eight wins it would be a great run but nothing has been achieved as yet.
“The expectation levels are rising and we have to show that we can handle that.”
Annan will go into tonight’s game on a high after coming back from a goal down to snatch a point at East Fife on Saturday, and will be hoping to use midweek home advantage to climb the table themselves.
Fresh from their latest good result at the weekend, the Lichties are expected to travel south with a couple of injury concerns.
Adam Hunter is rated doubtful after he picked up an injury at Gayfield at the weekend, while Craig Johnstone is nursing an ankle problem.
Jack Smith remains out long-term with an elbow injury.
Dylan Carreiro could well start, however, after coming on as a substitute at the weekend following his return from international duty.
