Montrose chairman Derek Sim has revealed that the club are edging closer to announcing the name of their new manager, writes Neil Robertson.
Links Park assistant George Shields threw his hat in the ring to secure the post on a permanent basis and was interviewed by the Montrose board last week, along with three other unnamed candidates.
Now, Sim and the rest of the club’s directors will sit down and make a final decision.
He said: “We went about it in what I would call a professional company manner. We have interviewed everyone and we were very impressed with all the candidates.
“We will now have a further board meeting and hopefully will be in a position to make an announcement this week.”
Montrose were inundated with applications, with former Arbroath boss John McGlashan believed to be on the four-man short list.
