Netherlands U17s v Scotland U17s: Scots eye place in Euro final
ByThe Courier Reporter
SCOTLAND Under-17s face up to the Netherlands on Sunday with a place in the semi-finals of the Uefa European Under-17 Championship at stake.
Scot Gemmill’s side clinched their last-four place in Malta thanks to a 3-1 success over Switzerland in Paola on Thursday.
The Scots went into the game requiring at least a point to advance but were a goal down at half-time after Dimitri Oberlin struck on 20 minutes.
But goals from Dundee striker Craig Wighton, Jake Sheppard and Ryan Hardie plus a penalty save by Robby McCrorie in the second half completed a remarkable turnaround.
Dundee United’s Cameron Ballantyne is playing a starring role with the young Scots.
