Sheffield Wednesday boss hints at early debut for Stevie May
ByThe Courier Reporter
Stevie May is set to make his Sheffield Wednesday debut in their clash with Notts County in the Capital One Cup at Hillsborough tonight.
The former St Johnstone striker turned down Rotherham United’s advances, opting to pen a four-year deal with the Owls instead.
He trained with his new team-mates for the first time on Monday.
Wednesday boss Stuart Gray has promised to field a strong side against League One side County in the first round of the competition, hinting May will feature.
Gray said: “Stevie will want to play and the fans will want him to. I’m pleased to have him in the building.

“I felt on Saturday after we went 1-0 up versus Brighton that we were in control and he is the type of player who could have got the second goal and given us a bit more breathing space in the last 10 minutes.
“I’ve brought Stevie in because he is a team player. He will work his socks off.
“We defend from the front. He will close centre-halves down. He will make bad balls into good balls but he’s also got the skill to put the ball in the back of the net, which hopefully he will do with us.
“He will give 100% for the cause.”
