Stranraer v Brechin: City boss hopes lessons have been learned
ByEric Nicolson
Brechin City boss Ray McKinnon believes his team were given a valuable lesson in defeat in midweek.
And they may be required to show this afternoon that they are quick learners. Unbeaten in League One, the Glebe Park men make the long trip to Stranraer.
McKinnon has had a debrief with his players about what went wrong in their midweek Petrofac Training Cup exit to Peterhead, and they are determined to get back on track.
“We were a bit flat on Tuesday night,” he admitted.
“We didn’t have the spark that was there for our league matches.
“After Peterhead got the first goal they defended in numbers and we found it difficult to break them down.
“We spoke about it last night in training, and the boys put a good session in. The boys will learn from it and Stranraer may well play the same way tomorrow.”
The cup defeat won’t detract from a “great start” to the season.
McKinnon added: “We could have had six points but four is a good platform to build on.”
The City boss was working hard to bring in a loan forward.
There are no fresh injury concerns, but he is likely to make changes from the midweek cup exit.
