Brechin boss Ray McKinnon is looking for his players to pick up another three points and to extend his unbeaten run against Ayr since taking over at the Glebe to eight games.
The Angus side have played the Honest Men seven times since McKinnon took charge at the club in October 2012 and he has yet to taste defeat against them.
He is determined that sequence of results will continue against Mark Roberts’ side, which, like Brechin, have made a solid start to the season.
City are just one point behind table-topping Dunfermline and McKinnon is looking for his players to reproduce the form they displayed hammering Stirling 5-0 last weekend.
However, he is aware that former Brechin striker Ryan Donnelly, who now plies his trade at Ayr, will pose a big threat.
He said: “Ayr have made a good start to the season, but so have we.
“They do have Ryan in their ranks and we know he can be a dangerous player.
“He is a great lad, but it didn’t really work out for him here, so hopefully he can be a success at Ayr after Saturday!
“I think since I took over as manager at Brechin, we have played them seven times and they have never beaten us.”
He continued: “We want to win to keep in contention at the top of the table.
“It is really tight and I see it staying like that for the rest of the season.
“Dunfermline and Morton are full-time, which gives them a big advantage, but I just can’t see anyone pulling away.”
Brechin will be without the injured Callum Tapping.
