Poland talisman Robert Lewandowski has declared his nation’s Euro 2016 clash with Scotland more important than their glamour fixture against World champions Germany.
Bayern Munich superstar Lewandowski will be hoping to stun several of his club teammates on Saturday when Jaochim Low’s all-conquering side visit Warsaw.
However, the 26-year-old has warned against becoming obsesses with the visit of the Germans, insisting: “The world does not end after this match.”
And he reckons becoming the first team to win a competitive match against the World champions will count for NOTHING if they lose against Scotland three days later.
Lewandowski said: “There is no doubt a match against Germany will give everyone a boost and is a special occasion for the players and the fans.
“But it is important to remember that the world does not end after Saturday, just three days later we play a vital game against Scotland.
“It is perhaps less prestigious and will not capture the imagination of the fans like Germany but, in many ways, it could be a more important match for our qualification hopes.
“If we beat Germany then lose to Scotland it would be unacceptable, because Scotland will be a direct opponent for qualification – whereas Germany will definitely go to Euro 2016.”
